Anna Oliva (Hardt) Foster was born on July 26,1928 to Anna and Frederick Hardt in Newark, New Jersey. Known as Ann, she grew up in Newark, New Jersey, the 4TH of 6 children. She was very active n her Presbyterian church as a youth in the programs and choir there. In addition, she loved to roller skate and had many friends. Ann met Ray Foster and they were married on December 23, 1946 in the middle of a blizzard. Her sister Dorothy was her bridesmaid. They had 4 little girls and decided they couldn’t stand the cold anymore, so they moved to sunny Southern California. Ann was a waitress and talented seamstress, so she would sew the outfits for all the waitresses. When their oldest was 12, Ann became a foster parent for Down Syndrome children, which she did for 8 more years. After that, she worked for Rohr Corporation for, 10 years in Riverside, California. Her husband, Ray, died after 44 years of marriage. At that point in time, she became the “Consummate Volunteer”. She took MANY people on tours all around the world for 13 years as an AARP Tour Director. She also kept busy with the Goeske Senior Center, where she took people on tours to Laughlin and many other places, besides working with people doing fun things. For more that 25 years, she attended the Victoria Presbyterian Church and was very happy as a deacon and on every committee there, which brought her much joy. For the last 17 years, she lived in the Riverside County Club Mobile Home Park in Riverside, California. Even there, she directed tours to Pachanga, which made a lot of people very happy. During the last years of her life, she had macular degeneration and received shots in her eyes just so she could see. Even so, she drove until she was 90 years old. She was also a member of the Braille Institute, which helped her get by this last year. -Ann passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2020. -She will be honored at a memorial service in Riverside as soon as it is safe for a large gathering. -Ann will be interred at Olivewood Cemetery in Riverside, California next to her dear husband Ray. -She is survived by her sister Dorothy Dempsey and sister-in-law Isabelle Campbell; her daughters, Susanne Dorothy & husband Dale Pettitt. Linda Lee & husband Clifford Jones. Cathy Irene Rios, Judythe Ann & husband Robert Graham. Besides the 4 daughters, she had 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. -She passed just before her 92nd birthday and will be truly missed by all.
