Katherine Eula Mae Mclaughlin arrived in Heaven on February 10, 2021. She was born January 18, 1922 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Rolland and Edna Shapland. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Cecil (Dunnie) McLaughlin her husband for 65 years. She was also preceded by her brothers: Russell, Paul, Wayne, Jack, David and Chris and her sister Nell Rose Klemcke. She leaves behind her sister, Marilyn Joyce Underwood of Anaheim Hills. Eula Mae is also survived by: her son Brian and his wife Jeannie of Mira Loma, Daughter Lelia Kay McLaughlin of Yorba Linda, Grandson Jason McLaughlin of Fullerton, Grandson Ryan Simmons and wife Jackie of Memphis Tennessee, granddaughter Holly Simmons of Chino, and two great grandchildren, James and David Simmons of Memphis Tennessee, and dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends spread across the country. Eula Mae and Dunnie lived 46 years on the last surviving and working orange and avocado grove in North Orange County. When the ranch was sold, they moved to Lake Elsinore where she lived 17 years before moving back to Yorba Linda to live with her daughter Lelia Kay. She treasured her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. Most of all she treasured her precious Lord Jesus Christ. She was an avid student of the scriptures and memorized dozens of Bible verses which she quoted as a part of her daily routine. Singing hymns, studying the Bible, offering words of encouragement to friends and strangers and talking with her Lord were key parts of her daily routine. Each night she was literally on her knees praying for family, friends, neighbors and the country. She was very active in community events in Placentia and Yorba Linda. She served as Boy Scout leader, Girl Scout Leader, PTA President, Team Mom and Manager of Little League in Placentia and Bob-Ettes Girls Softball League, JUSA Soccer, and numerous other sports teams. She was an accomplished piano player and singer. She loved the old hymns best: Amazing Grace and Softly and Tenderly were special favorites. During two of the Billy Graham Crusades, Eula Mae made the trip every night to sing with the Billy Graham Choir (Some were 12 days in a row). To make this possible, Dunnie got permission from employer to leave work early every night to watch the kids. Bible Study was an important part of her daily schedule and she used her knowledge to teach others. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and events with kids of all ages. This included programs and events at Calvary Church in Placentia, Orange Villa Bible Church in Orange and Lake Side Baptist Church in Lake Elsinore. Eula Mae lived an amazing 99 years on this earth. Although she was never wealthy in earthly terms, she would often say “We live like Kings and Queens” and we live such blessed lives, so let’s not forget to tell God “Thank You”. She often said “God has been very, very good to me and has blessed me with the best family and group of friends anyone could ever have. Another favorite saying was: “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, Today is a Gift, That’s why they call it “The Present”. Key Words Describing Eula Mae: Wife. Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma.
